Image description

As railroad travel expanded throughout North America, hotels were built at station stops, and attractions previously off the beaten track suddenly became hot spots. The Canadian Southern Railway’s station at Clifton, Ontario, built in the late 1870s, opened Niagara Falls to tourism. The Falls became a favorite honeymoon spot with fifteen separate railroads, many on the United States side, stopping at The Falls.
