Combat devant l'Hôtel de Ville le 28 juillet 1830 (Main title) Schnetz, Jean-Victor The artist illustrates the second day of the "Trois Glorieuses" of 1830. In reaction to the liberticidal ordinances signed by Charles X, insurgent crowds erected barricades and seized the Hôtel de Ville. Like Delacroix's "Liberty Guiding the People", the scene is set on a barricade. The wounded child waving the tricolor flag foreshadows Victor Hugo's Gavroche.
