Creator: Nikolaus Schmidt (c. 1550/55-1609)(goldsmith) Large silver and parcel gilt nautilus cup and cover. Cover cast with Jupiter astride eagle with thunderbolts raised in right hand; surrounded by rim of female grotesques. Shell body with dolphin's head and female term mounts. Stem formed of Neptune riding a hippocamp; mermaid and shell feet.
