Shoulder title, 1st Battalion, 152nd Punjabis, 1918-1920.
Brass badge in form of regimental number, 152.
The 1st Battalion of the 152nd Punjabis was raised in Mesopotamia (modern Iraq) in the last year of the First World War (1914-1918). The formation of the 152nd Punjabis was part of a reorganisation of forces in the Middle East. New units, drawn from existing India Army regiments, were formed to take the place of British units transferred to the Western Front to make up the heavy losses suffered during the German Spring Offensive. The unit served in Egypt and Palestine and, after its return to India, was disbanded in September 1920.
From the Field Marshal Sir John Chapple Indian Army Collection.
