Battle between a red deer stag and an ounce or hunting tiger. The stag held the stalking ounce at bay with its antlers, until the cat jumped over the net into the crowd. Based on an anecdote in the Sportsman’s Cabinet about a blood sport event staged by the Duke of Cumberland before the races on Newmarket Heath in the 18th century. Stag and once.
