HUMBOLDT INNOVATION, BERLIN

The Humboldt Innovation, or HI, is the dedicated knowledge and technology transfer office of the Humboldt University Berlin. Their image collection includes many prints of scientific diagrams and illustrations; of particular note are the engravings from the 1747 ‘Tabulae sceleti et musculorum corporis humani’ by Jan Wandelaar and the diagrams of the inner workings of Wolfgang von Kempel’s ‘The Turk’, a chess-playing automaton.
