Deutsches Historisches Museum

Collection Overview

Set in Berlin’s baroque former arsenal, the Deutsches Historisches Museum has been telling the German story since 1987. The Museum houses many prints and paintings that document Germany’s history, from a 16th century Lutheran bible and 17th century Gerrit van Honthorst portait of Friedrich V, ‘Winter King’ of Bohemia to photographs, posters and other ephemera that chart Germany’s turbulent 20th century. Amongst the museum’s treasures are also sculptures, ceramics, textiles, wood and metal work, maps, medieval manuscripts and militaria.
