Introducing Bridgeman Gallery

Original contemporary art on CultureLabel.com from selected Bridgeman Studio Artists

November 19 2015 -  For the first time Bridgeman are selling original works from a selected portfolio of contemporary artists.

Bridgeman Gallery has exclusively launched on CultureLabel.com, the online art portal and hand-crafted gift retailer, acquired by Bridgeman earlier this year.

The 37 works selected for launch have been handpicked from 6 established artists, already enjoying licensing success with Bridgeman. The gallery’s ethos reflects a passion for illustration and printmaking and an eye for supporting highly collectable artists to develop their investment potential. Screenprints, etchings, gouache paintings and cyanotypes, all signed by the artists, are available to buy now.

Lucy Innes Williams, Bridgeman Artists Manager says: “Artists can now benefit from a complete service to include licensing reproductions of their artworks, commissioning and selling originals."

Lucy Baxter, Commercial Director at CultureLabel says: “The Bridgeman Gallery collection comprises an exciting range of established artists, and offers an excellent opportunity to acquire investment works at an accessible price point."

Explore Bridgeman Gallery at the London Illustration Fair, 4-6 December with CultureLabel.

ANGELA EASTERLING

Fern Frond is a unique work in a series of 7 works.

Cyanotpye on 300gsm hand coated watercolour paper. Signed by the artist.

Method

The cyanotype, or blueprint process was invented in 1842 by Sir John Herschel. From 1843 Anna Atkins, the first female photographer, created a series of beautiful cyanotype photograms including ferns and algae. Easterling has been inspired by this history to create a series of botanical cyanotypes. No camera was used, rather the image is exposed in the sun.

As Easterling says: “When combined with contemporary chemicals the plant materials generate their own particular aura of colour. There are no negatives and so reprints cannot be made. Each image is unique.”

About Angela Easterling

Easterling has been commissioned by the Eden Project, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. Her images can be found in the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Fox Talbot Musuem.

Size: 25.4 x 17.8 cm.
