Georges Gaudy (1872?1940) was a Belgian poster artist, painter and champion cyclist. Gaudy was a specialist in automobile & bicycle posters. Like Cottereau, Griffin and many other bicycle manufacturers of the time, the Belgian company Delin used its factory to turn out motorized vehicles as well. In this delectably-colored sunset scene, the well-seated Delin rider casts an envious eye on the doll-size Delin moteur. An illustrator, posterist and painter as well as an accomplished cyclist, Gaudy created images that almost always centered on a bicycle or automobile. In announcing and illustrating this particular image in the 1898 August-September issue, The Poster indicated a preference for the artists automobile posters, but admitted that this design Is attractive, and nice in composition.
