A three-quarter-length portrait of a young woman, seated on a green upholstered chair, at a circular wooden table, turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, her left arm is resting on a red/pink muff on the table, holding a sprig of flowers in her left hand. She is wearing a white satin dress and a black lace shawl with a pink bow at the elbow, also a small pink ruff. Her dark hair is dressed high and she had a pendant pearl earring. Background drapes. A daughter of the Duke of Portland, she married in 1763 Lord Grey of Groby, who in 1768 succeeded his father as 5th Earl of Stamford. Dunham Massey, Cheshire (Accredited Museum)
