Swiss author, playwright and essayist Friedrich Duerrenmatt was born on January 5, 1921, in Konolfingen in the canton of Berne, Switzerland, as the son of a Protestant pastor. His plays “The Visit”, “The Physicists” and “Romolus the Great” became worldwide successes. Friedrich Duerrenmatt, who received the “Georg Buechner Prize” for his large body of work, died on December 14, 1990, in Neuchatel, Switzerland.
