Image description: Kurt Schuermann (l.) and Ernst Deubelbeiss (r.) are led by policemen to inspect the crime scene in the Reppisch valley. The then 28-year-old and his accomplice Ernst Deubelbeiss, who killed the banker Armin Bannwart, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Zurich jury on February 18, 1953 for murder, attempted murder, gang robbery and theft. Schuermann and Deubelbeiss were regarded as 'the greatest serious criminals in Swiss criminal history' because of their new brutality and cold-bloodedness. They had used machine guns for the robbery and murder of bankers Armin Bannwart like no other perpetrator before.
