Pursuing Fugitives across the Chabur. Under Tukulti-Ninib II Assyria's fortunes, after a century and a half of weakness, began to mend. We possess records of five of his campaigns, in the course of which he raided Northern Babylonia and Eastern Mesopotamia as far as the Chabur. Assyrian archers are here seen shooting at fugitives as they swim the river to their fortress on the further bank. Illustration for Hutchinson's History of the Nations (Hutchinson, c.1920).
