Image description

Doris Haddock, "Granny D," an 89 year-old grandmother from New Hampshire, took a break July 23 from her walk across America for campaign finance reform to be the first speaker of the Reform Party National Convention in Dearborn. Haddock, who started January 1st, has now completed 1,840 miles of the walk and would like to finish in Washington, DC on her 90th birthday, January 24, 2000. Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura was scheduled to be the final speaker of the evening, but was unable to attend. jch/Photo by John C. JCH/HB
