Modica: view of the Cathedral of St George. The Cathedral of St George is the symbol of the Sicilian Baroque. It is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and it is the final result of the six / eighteenth century reconstruction, following the disastrous earthquakes that struck Modica in 1542, in 1613 and in 1693 (the most devastating); slight damage was caused by the earthquakes in the Iblea area that occurred during the eighteenth century and in 1848.

La chiesa di San Giorgio, inserita nella Lista Mondiale dei Beni dell'Umanita dell'UNESCO, è il risultato finale della ricostruzione sei/settecentesca, avvenuta in seguito ai disastrosi terremoti che colpirono Modica nel 1542, nel 1613 e nel 1693 (il più grave); lievi danni apportarono i sismi nell'area iblea succedutisi nel corso del Settecento e nel 1848.
