RIGHT WING JEWS HANG BANNER AT NIGHT IN SETTLEMENT BID, 1998-09-17 (photo)

Right-wing Israeli activists from the Betar youth movement hang a banner saying, "BB, We're On Your Side" as they erect a settlement under the cover of darkness at the controversial Israeli building site of Har Homa in Arab East Jerusalem. Some 25 activists from the movement affiliated with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party brought a caravan filled with supplies to the site in the middle of the night and set up two tents which they intended to occupy during the Jewish high holidays of Rosh Hashana, or New Years, in order to persuade the government to pick up the pace on construction of Jewish homes on the site also known to Palestinians as Jabal Abu Ghneim.
