Psalm 33; grotesques

Luttrell Psalter England [East Anglia]; circa 1325-1335 Language: Latin Source/Shelfmark: Add. 42130, f.64 Whole folio. Psalm 33. Border decoration with grotesques, including one with a human head and gills, and tail with foliage. Another has the upper body of a young woman holding a spear and a beast's hindquarters. In the lower margin, a bearded man and a veiled woman, both with the hindquarters of beasts. The tail of the woman bears a gold ring and sprouts oak leaves. Image taken from the Luttrell Psalter.
