Werner Kiene (L), country representative of the U.N. World Food Programme (WFP) in Bangladesh, speaks to Bangladesh Army Colonel Abdus Salam (R) at Chittagong port September 19 while other port officials look on. Kiene visited the port to see unloading of the first consignment of 355,000 tonnes of wheat the WFP has pledged to Bangladesh as flood assitance. The floods so far have killed nearly 1,200 people and left millions facing hunger and disease. The government has deployed army at the port to ensure smooth handling and delivery of the food grains.
