Wim Huisman, CEO of Global Crossing Europe, will speak at a press conference of the telecommunications company Global Crossing Europe in Zurich on Wednesday, September 27, 2000. Global Crossing Europe, which is building the world's largest global IP-based fibre optic network, announced the completion of the Southern and Irish cable rings. The extension of the Pan European Crossing (PEC) data network will extend this network by a further 3611 kilometres. This high-performance data network, the largest backbone of European data communications, fully owned and managed by the company, links 47 major cities in 11 countries. The PEC, once completed early next year, will represent an investment of over USD 3 billion.
