Anti-American propaganda poster published by the French Communist Party around 1950. Denouncing the American presence in Europe, this document shake the spectre of civil war in France, referring to the Korean War. Applying the American presence in Europe to an “occupation” and comparing American methods to those of Hitler, the text on the back of the poster encourages financial assistance to the French Communist Party to “lead the struggle for peace” and proclaims: “Americans in America!” The illustration, signed by Paul Gillis, shows a mother desesperee tenat her dead child against the background of smoking ruins, in the style “” sovietic realism”.
