John Astley (Wem 1730 – Dukinfeld Lodge, Cheshire 1787). Oil painting on canvas, Mary Legh, Mrs Legh Richmond (d. after 1769) by John Astley (1730-1787), 1759. A half-length painted oval portrait of a middle-aged woman, turned to the left, gazing at spectator. Her dark hair is covered by a long black shawl which falls across her shoulders and is caught at her bosom by a rope of pearls which hangs from her right shoulder. She wears a brown dress, a white fichu and a purple bow at her neck. Wife of the Reverend Legh Richmond Lyme Park, Cheshire (Accredited Museum)
